Old Age Is Not A Curse But Rather A Glorious Gift
Terry Perry, an online marketing master who runs her own internet sales business called Terry Perry's Marketing , has come to grips with the aging process.

MARCH 19, 2010 /from the Stanford Who's Who blog/ -- Terry Perry, an online marketing master who runs her own internet sales business called Terry Perry's Marketing , has come to grips with the aging process. As a matter of fact, she actually embraces the wonderful life that she lives and the times she has experienced over the years.

For the first time in her life, she is the person she has always wanted to be. Terry admits that she may sometimes despair over her body and overall physical appearance and is often taken aback by the old person who resembles her mother that she sees each time she looks in the mirror. But she lets it go in a flash, realizing that she would never want to trade in her amazing friends, wonderful life and loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly.

As she has aged, Terry has become increasingly less critical of herself, embracing the person she has become. She has become her own best friend. She no longer chides herself for eating that extra cookie, not making her bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that she did not need, but looks so incredibly strange on her patio. Terry is now aware that she is entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant. She has witnessed far too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes along with aging. She knows that you only get one shot at this thing we call life. Terry is aware that she is sometimes forgetful but also realizes that sometimes things are better off forgotten anyway.

Whose business is it but her own if she chooses to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? Terry now enjoys dancing around the house by herself to her favorite tunes of the 60's and 70's and if she wants to shed some tears at the same time over a lost love, she will. She will walk the beach in a swimsuit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if she chooses to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old. Everyone does, if they have the privilege to make it that far in life.

Sure, over the years her heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
